About
Captain Bob Belekewicz
United
States Coast Guard Licensed Master,
Towing Certified
I
have enjoyed every moment I have spent on the
water since my very humble beginnings using a
9.9 hp Evinrude on rental boats in Boston Harbor
to my current equipment, fishing the waters of
Cape Cod and the Islands.
My
training began after purchasing my first boat,
jointly with Lemke - a 16’ Runabout.
I began
my formal coursework with the United States
Power Squadron and attained the rank of Advanced
Pilot. I
completed additional coursework at the
Massachusetts Maritime Academy and at New
England Maritime.
I sat for the Coast Guard test with New
England Maritime and attained the level of
Licensed Master.
In
addition to my formal training, I have traveled
and fished extensively throughout North America.
From Pike, Lake Trout and Grayling in the
Northwest Territories; to Salmon and Halibut in
Alaska and Washington States; to Tarpon and Mahi
Mahi in the Florida Keys, my appreciation and
respect for the sport of fishing has grown.
Most importantly, because I have fished
with many other Charter Captains, I have learned
how to make your day more enjoyable and what to
avoid. For
example, I do not sail in bad weather.
I insist on speaking to my clients the
evening before a scheduled charter to ensure
that the next day’s weather forecast is
favorable for the type of fishing trip
requested.
In marginal weather, I will leave the
decision to sail up to the party, or I may
recommend a different type of trip less effected
by wind.
My
philosophy of chartering is simple:
the safety, comfort and enjoyment of my
passengers, first; catching fish, second.
Aboard
ship, each person is expected to handle his or
her own pole.
Depending on the passenger’s level of
experience, I am happy to offer instructions or
encouragement, as needed.
My
equipment is very user-friendly and even people
who have never fished before can master the
technique in a very short time.
And
because of my wife and her dear friend, I do
offer “Princess Fishing”, for those ladies
who do not want to bait their own hooks nor
remove fish.
All
fish landed that are of legal size and within
established limits may be kept by the party.
I encourage you to take whatever fish you
will use and will be happy to release the rest
to fight another day.
I am not a Commercial fisherman.
I do not sell fish, and I do not
encourage this practice by my customers, either.
Fish that are kept are immediately
iced down and are in top condition for
fileting. I
am expert with a filet knife and will be happy
to take care of your catch.
For small to moderate amounts of fish, I
will filet the fish on board during the return
trip. However,
for large catches, I may make other arrangements
to take care of your fish and meet you later
with the filets.
Last,
but not least, I enjoy cooking fish.
I truly want you to enjoy your catch and
I am happy to share with you my favorite recipes
and techniques for the type of fish you catch.
